Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

Is this song nu-metal?

It has many of the elements: the chuggy guitar riff, DJ scratches, a shirtless dreadlocked bass player, a rapper with a goatee

I'm gonna say yes. It's more goofy than testosterone-fuelled, but it still fits.

I'm gonna say 311 was proto-nu-metal.

I won't except a 311 or Incubus song with good lyrics. They have to be awful. It's a requirement of the genre.

I like 311 and all but come original is probably their worst song and is absolutely nu metal

The ironic thing about it is its the least original song ever

311 definitely helped spark the nu metal movement, and yes “Come Original” sucks and is one of their worst.

"Come Original" is an ugly rock song with a bad riff and really embarrassing lyrics, "Amber" is a breezy, laid-back dub-inspired thing that takes some nice instrumental turns. It's not great but it's a lot more enjoyable to listen to than "Come Original", IMO

One of my best friends growing up got really into 311 for about two months because this girl that he had an insane crush on was super into them. They were her favorite band, somehow. God, that was a terrible couple of months. We'd drive around listening to them and I'd try to talk him out of "swinging" by the restaurant she worked at. It was awful.

As if their music isn't bad enough, their terrible association with that period of my life makes me hate them forever.
