Re: Ed's Most Cryptic Lyrics
The evolution of my interpretation of this masterpiece knows no end.I'm gonna see my friend
I'm gonna see my friend, make it go away
I'm sick of everything
I'm gonna see my friend, make it go away
I'm gonna see my friend
Gonna see my friend, make it go away
At first blush, I naturally assumed this was a critique of Castiglione's monotype as the precursor to the evolution of mass propagada;
but lately this strikes me entirely differently, as a direct attack against Caravaggio's tenebrism as overtly complex as compared to the simple beauty of grisaille

a lyrical take on modalismYeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
don't be fooled by the seemingly bland repetitiveness
it is merely the canvas on which a great work will soon be painted

I think that this is how Ed sees this lyric.

When the gas in my tank
Feels like money in the bank
I mean, you can take this the literal way and be like, hey Ed does your gas tank really jingle jangle like coins in your corduroys? But, you’d be wrong. It is way deeper than that my friends.

Re: Ed's Most Cryptic Lyrics
plaque on the wall says that
no one's slept here
it's rare to come upon
a bridge that has not been around
or been stepped on
I love these lines but have no idea what they mean.
