Wow.
They sure suck at David Tennant and Bill Murray, though.

no doubt.digster wrote:I think if two of the three songs we heard hadn't fallen relatively flat here, there might be more excitement about it. People who may not be fans of the new material are probably feeling like they'd wait and see, rather than go all in on the new record.

Are PJ songs not usually better live? Or is it vice versa?

Is there a better capture of LB & FD apart from videogremmie on youtube?

It's funny how people seem to think that "Future Days" will magically become a better song once a better recording is available.

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
It depends on how different the arrangement is. Maybe not at all. But maybe it's more than just Ed and a guitar or whatever on the album. I'm not saying it'll magically become better, but there could be a lot more to like about a studio version, depending on what they've done with it.Wendy Carlos's Twin wrote:It's funny how people seem to think that "Future Days" will magically become a better song once a better recording is available.
But maybe it'll be the exact same thing, just compressed.

I think a proper studio recording could bump this up by .5 a star, especially if they add a real piano to it, and maybe let Mike or Stone chime in with some nifty guitar sounds.durdencommatyler wrote:It depends on how different the arrangement is. This might be unpopular here, but if I was BoB for a day and was allowed to eliminate either Lightning Bolt or Future Days from the new record, I'd strike LB.

Exactly. Or maybe there's a brass section or something. Or if the lyrics are slightly different. I don't know. I'm just saying I think it's possible for the studio version to improve opinions about the song.Coach wrote:I think a proper studio recording could bump this up by .5 a star, especially if they add a real piano to it, and maybe let Mike or Stone chime in with some nifty guitar sounds.durdencommatyler wrote:It depends on how different the arrangement is. I'd need to hear the whole album before I could make a call like that. So much of it will be context, I think.Coach wrote:This might be unpopular here, but if I was BoB for a day and was allowed to eliminate either Lightning Bolt or Future Days from the new record, I'd strike LB.

I know im in the minority, but i think future days is good, not overly exciting, but its a good song, and im sure they could add some touches to the studio version to bump it up a bit like coach said, but if you totally hate the live version then you most likely won't like the studio version either

I agree with you. I like Future Days. My fear is that like most recent Ed solo songs, I will grow tired of it. Still, I have been humming it over the last few weeks.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:I know im in the minority, but i think future days is good, not overly exciting, but its a good song, and im sure they could add some touches to the studio version to bump it up a bit like coach said, but if you totally hate the live version then you most likely won't like the studio version either
