I prefer the Cobain rip to the Layne rip.

Yep, both of these are awful. I'm not familiar with Godsmack at all, but I'm impressed they were able to make so much money from such blatantly derivative music. They're not even trying to mask it at all. It's incredible.

Another round of “which feces would you like to smell more?”
Godsmack isn’t Puddle of Mudd so them I guess. Both of these are awful.

Keep Away: Oh God does this singer think he's something or what ... I hate how cool all these guys think they are... when they're obviously not. 1:21.
Control: Nice acting, douche bags. Worst singing ever. This might be the band I hate most of all time. 1:46.

"Control" may very well have been the song that finally put me off mainstream rock radio forever. What a piece of foul-smelling, pipe-clogging, can't-believe-a-human-being-actually-produced-this shit.

Does Godsmack share a vocalist with Crash Test Dummies
Jesus Keep Away is soooooooo weak but I guess I’ll vote for it over Control, which is maybe the most generic RockSong™ I’ve ever heard

Re: R1: Keep Away vs. Control
Godsmack might have made a decent cover band, but they decided to make their own "original" songs.

Never heard either of these before and I'm worse for having now done so, but the Puddle of Mudd song was marginally less grating.

Each of these bands has one song I kind of like, but neither of these are it. What to do...

I remember at the time feeling like the Godsmack guy was totally aping Layne, but listening now he sounds more like James Hetfield. Either way, an easy vote over POM.

He kind of sounds like both (Layne in the versus, Hetfield in the chorus).Kevin Davis wrote:I remember at the time feeling like the Godsmack guy was totally aping Layne, but listening now he sounds more like James Hetfield. Either way, an easy vote over POM.
I'll vote for the Puddle of Mudd song.

Round is open through the end of the day. Bumping because it’s close and there are still a lot of people who haven’t voted.

Flogging a dead horse here, but a lot of the songs are so bad that I forget to vote because I don't want anything to do with either of them. There are also a lot present abstainers.
