This almost makes me want to agree with you.
Oh man, I didn't even mean to do that. :D
That makes it even better
I love the verb "strike."

So I am reading all these complaints about not being excited anymore because of no new news. Let's see how unexcited you are for the album when they release the tracklist. And then when more details come out shortly thereafter. These extreme reactions seem to be par the course for PJ fans. We are still months out. Have some patience.

Maybe I should use this space now to let folks know that I am still excited.

Yeah, I'm still pretty excited. Mind Your Manners really changed my tune, team. I've been riding high since then.

When you hear MYM on the radio, it really is a nice jarring break from the mundane stuff that's out there. I'm still at a solid 3/5 stars for MYM but I grade Pearl Jam against its best songs, and records. So, a 3 isn't all that bad in my book.

I tend to suffer from prolonged honeymoon syndrome. So we'll see how MYM sits with me in a year or two. But for now it's an easy 4 star song which could climb to a 5 eventually if I don't tire of it first. But it's been how long? And I'm not even a little sick of it yet. And I listen to it everyday.

And I will remain very, very excited after the record release on Oct. 15 when I will see the band play that night at Worcester I.

Im still interested to see if the shows before the album release get only MYM, LB and FD or if they will start playing all the songs they plan on playing for the whole tour right from the beginning

How many shows before the album comes out?

I think it will be more enjoyable .
I don't think 'magic' has much to do with it, Wendy Carlos's Twin; more, you know, studio recording dynamics, instrumental quality and arrangement, that kind of thing. I'm not sure why people are struggling with that concept.

It's a horrible song, and nothing is gonna change that. Stop fooling yourselves.

I'd like you to list your favourite PJ songs, so that I can then tell you your favourite songs suck and you're delusional.

Me neither. I don't think it was once mentioned that the differences would be so great that it would be a totally different song. The song is "the song" yes. The quality of the studio recording and production can play a big part on how well a song is received. Maybe it an overall warmth or mood set by post production or guitar tones/effects. Maybe it's a little studio magic on Ed's vocals with layering or slight key correction. The tempo of the song. How thick or thin the drums and bass are. The overall mix of everything plays a part.
All these things can effect how a song is enjoyed both positively and negatively.
I personally haven't cared for Pearl Jams live tone or eds live vocals that much the past 6 years or so. I think they still sound good but I don't think they transcend what they can do as a studio band.

Sometimes you can't fully enjoy a painting from a picture. Usually the color is a bit off and Sometimes You need to see the brushstroke an the markmaking. I see a studio recording more like having the actual painting.
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

Some more review/article type things would be nice, even if we don't get to hear the thing itself. I'm not looking forward to the prospect of having nothing happening at all for the next 2 months.
