I actually really like the verses in "My Way". The music is spacey and the melodies are compelling. But then Fred Durst ruins everything with the absolutely ridiculous chorus.
Voting for Korn yet again. "Here to Stay" jams so fuckin' hard.

Davis is so proud of that HR Giger mic stand.
Is that Limp Bizkit as a post-grunge band?
Korn. duh.

Here to Stay is just brilliant. I love the nu-dance beat in the verses.

"My Way" sounds like a conscious attempt to write another "Re-Arranged", but it doesn't have the things that made "Re-Arranged" worthwhile

Re: R1: Here to Stay vs. My Way
I've never heard any post-Life is Peachy Korn stuff before this tournament, and most of it seems kind of boring compared to the stuff on the first two records. This one wasn't any exception; the verses were OK but I didn't like the chorus much.
Still, it's better than My Way.

Here to Stay: I like it. It's interesting and fun. Good video, too. Korn is growing on me.
My Way: Oh my god the cliches. Boooo. 1:31.
Korn, easily.

This Korn song is unquestionably the better one in the matchup but I am struck by how interchangeable all of their riffs feel

The song is played in drop A. Everyone is going to run into that problem playing drop A.

I do like pretty much everything about “My Way” that isn’t Fred Durst tbh.

Yeah but it's just more evidence that they set out to write another "Re-Arranged".
Just think about it

Re: R1: Here to Stay vs. My Way
Why do Korn and Limp Bizkit keep facing off against each other in these early rounds? That's my one gripe with the way LV put this thing together. I find Stip's method of randomizing the matches to be more sensible. Otherwise, you're doing great, Jordan. Anyway, Korn once again outperforms Bizkit in almost every way. I agree with LV's take on the verses in "My Way," so they deserve some kudos for that, but it's the only redeeming quality. "Here to Stay" has a nice heavy beat and riff which carry the song, but by this point in their career they seem to have mostly left behind their ability to play with unusual timbres and were falling into rote.

Re: R1: Here to Stay vs. My Way
Challonge seeded them alphabetically, so they wound up facing off a lot because of their band names. I didn't want to randomize the seeds because I figured it result in bands going against themselves in multiple round 1 matches, but, in retrospect, that might have been preferable.Brett wrote:Why do Korn and Limp Bizkit keep facing off against each other in these early rounds?
