Re: R1: My Own Prison vs. Innervision
It’s been years, but I suspect My Own Prison still holds up as a decent album for its time. I may have been a Creed fan before I was a Pearl Jam fan, unfortunately... hell I was only 11 when this debuted and was all over rock radio. PJ wasn’t really shit to an 11 year old in 1997-98.
“Innervision” is the cool vote but I think “My Own Prison” means more to me do it gets my vote!

Ah yes, My Own Prison, the album with the lyric, “only in America we kill the unborn just to make ends meet.”

The most offensive thing in this topic is the music video for "My Own Prison" by Creed.

The most offensive thing in this topic is it sounds like everyone on here is at least ten years younger than me. #metooold

Re: R1: My Own Prison vs. Innervision
I think Creed is a bit like Korn; they're a step above most of their peers in terms of musicianship and songwriting, even if they have some pretty insufferable tendencies (the vocals and the lyrics). I went with System of a Down the last time they faced Creed, but I don't like "Innervision" as much as "Chop Suey." It's short and spunky, but doesn't seem to develop much or have as much personality. While "My Own Prison" can be a bit of a slog, I like what they do with the verses, the dual vocalist sections, and the way the riff falls apart at the end. It's pretty close, but I'm going with "My Own Prison" knowing full well that it will lose.

Re: R1: My Own Prison vs. Innervision
I've been watching interviews with Scott Stapp and, now that I'm beginning to sympathize with him and all that he's been through, I can kind of feel okay about his yarly voice. Some of their stuff is pretty good. One Last Breath is very touching with a very good guitar part... and I respect this My Own Prison take.
It's actually very similar to how I feel about a lot of Pearl Jam songs these days. Sometimes it's difficult to get past Ed's weird voice, or even begin to sympathize with its eccentricities, but when I do it's pretty cool.

Re: R1: My Own Prison vs. Innervision
By most accounts he was a complete scumbag to everyone he met during his heyday. But maybe he feels bad about it now that he's a punchline. Good for him if he gets his life together, I just hope his music stays away from my ears.tree_ wrote:I've been watching interviews with Scott Stapp and, now that I'm beginning to sympathize with him and all that he's been through, I can kind of feel okay about his yarly voice.
