Your all-time favorite athlete
Who is it? Why?
Growing up my dad and grandfather were huge baseball fans. My dad took me to Phillies games and my grandfather to Orioles games. Don't know how it started, but I became a huge Rickey Henderson fan. Loved watching him swipe bases and I even got to see him leadoff a game with a home run. He's the only athlete to this day that I payed attention to no matter where he played. And when he was playing against the O's I still rooted for him when he came up to bat.

David Robinson. He was talking at my school in San Antonio and a kid fell off the gym bleachers, he stopped mid-sentence and sprinted over to her. He stayed with her and held her until the ambulance showed up and visited her everyday until she left the hospital. He asked there be no media coverage. Oh, and he was also a damn fine basketball player.

Without question, Don Mattingly.
I was a huge Yankees fan growing up - during their really terrible 80s/early 90s. He played the game the way it was meant to be played. Would be a hall of famer if his career wasn't cut short due to nagging injuries. A shame that the Yankees got to the WS and won the year after be retired.

It was Peyton Manning, though now I'd say Drew Brees.

Ryan Braun
Fuck all you haters. The man has the sexiest swing I've ever seen. And I'm talking about the baseball bat, not his johnson.
Followed closely by, yours truely, Randy Moss.

Fitting. Sat next to him at the bar at a Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery in Phoenix. I gotta tell you, I'm happy the Diamondbacks dropped him as a sportscaster. The man was annoying.lefty wrote:Mark Grace, even though he's sort of a drunk asshole now.

Ray Bourque
He was the captain of my favorite team and their losses to Edmonton were crushing. His being traded was also devastating, but seeing him finally win was enjoyable. I'm happy to see him back with the Bs, even if it's just a consultant role.

probably Greg? Maddux, ive been a Braves fan since around 88 and went through a bunch of favorite players through the early years, but once Greg? Maddux joined the Braves he was my Favorite for the rest of his career. i loved everything about his pitching style, how he could dominate with out being a power pitcher, he made that ball move in crazy ways. and with some of the interviews and especially that commercial he did with Glavine about chicks digging the long ball, i got to see that he had a great sense of humor. I never got to meet him but he would definitely be one that i would like to if i ever got the chance

I've heard he is a real quality guy for reals, this doesn't surprise me at all. Good stuff.turned2black wrote:David Robinson. Larry Bird for me. Big slow white dude who could play with anyone. Best passer in the game and used his body so well to get to where he needed to be at any time. That jump shot was just gorgeous too. Winner.

(I am also a big big fan of Andrew Gaze and Steve Waugh).
