I was obvious he was mistaken with Holdo. And it was obvious that whatever happened next was in order to his ¨arc¨. All the first sequence with him and Leia is an introduction to what happens next with him in the movie.

I also don't understand this whole "Fin should have sacrificed himself..." What would that have accomplished?
