Gotta love Aerials. Those Armenian bastards sure know how to harmonize.

True, the harmonies are pretty awesome in this one. I'm not an SOAD fan, but I've always dug this tune.Ello Sailor wrote:Gotta love Aerials. Those Armenian bastards sure know how to harmonize.

Creed deserves kudos for that song (despite the bridge). Gotta go with Aerials, though. They're in the sky.

LOL
Sweep Creed again, please. I’m pretty ambivalent toward Aerials since I heard it every day in middle school but it’s not fucking Creed.

The dj of this bar I went to Friday night (mixed crowd but a lot of younger 20s) busted into this creed song in between a ton of dance music
I was completely puzzled as was everyone else actually paying attention to the music
It dawned on me that it's not horrible (it's still creed n all).. like meaning it's maybe the best creed song (like saying the best qb on the jets)
That said aerials should sweep because it's one of the best system songs along with one of the best in this whole tourn

The last time I ever saw my best friend from elementary school, I vividly remember watching the Aerials video on MTV. We had a falling out not long after and I never talked to her again. I wonder how she’s doing.

What are the odds the falling out was because she didn't like Alien 3?

Zero. It actually involved her getting cancer and it was very weird and unpleasant.bada wrote:What are the odds the falling out was because she didn't like Alien 3?

Re: R1: One Last Breath vs. Aerials
"One Last Breath" is probably one of Creed's weaker singles. It's easy to see that the big singles on Weathered were intended to capitalize on the success of "Higher" and "With Arms Wide Open," but were more watered down. At least "My Sacrifice" had some interesting moments in its progression, but this one is pretty cookie-cutter and stale.
I wasn't a fan of "Aerials" at first because it seemed to lack the more spastic weirdness that "Chop Suey!" and "Toxicity" had. I grew to enjoy it, though, and listening to it now, it's even better. Eastern melodies are no stranger to hard rock and metal, but in System's hands they obviously feel more authentic and better understood. I'm also fond of the way the song is structured, with the verse coming in heavy after the intro, but then dropping into a subdued chorus before climbing back into the heavy part that carries its momentum until the last section which returns to something more contemplative. A little different than the usual, I guess.
"Aerials" easily wins this one.

Was this the plot to one of these ultra serious Linkin Park or Staind music videos?LoathedVermin72 wrote:Zero. It actually involved her getting cancer and it was very weird and unpleasant.bada wrote:What are the odds the falling out was because she didn't like Alien 3?

I still don’t think it gets acknowledged enough that the “Aerials” riff is exactly the same as the riff from “Whisper a Prayer for the Dying” by Coverdale/Page.

Last Resort is basically the riff of Ghengis Khan by Iron Maiden.LoathedVermin72 wrote:I still don’t think it gets acknowledged enough that the “Aerials” riff is exactly the same as the riff from “Whisper a Prayer for the Dying” by Coverdale/Page.

Aerials is one of 2-3 SoaD songs i can listen to, so i guess i'll vote for it
But man, I forgot how "good" Creed videos were.

Re: R1: One Last Breath vs. Aerials
I listened to Toxicity a lot the week it came out. So much so that for a couple years after I couldn't listen to some of the songs off of it without thinking about 9/11. That's probably the biggest memory link I've ever had with a piece of music.

I will admit that this Creed song falls into the guilty pleasure zone for me. And, I'd vote for it over many songs in this tournament.

I can't remember if I've ever heard it before now, but I really like Aerials - easy vote. The guy's voice doesn't bug me anywhere near as much here.

"Aerials" is really good. I think System is the one band in this tournament that I find myself actually appreciating more now than at the time.
