Only Pearl Jam fans are still sitting around thinking that their band saved the world from 80's schlock, and that one of the best ways to determine the validity and quality of new music is to determine if it's "80's" or not.

I never really understood the whole "PJ saved the world from 80s schlock" narrative. I think Kurt Cobain did that, if anyone did. And Brendan O'Brien, who remixed Ten for the Redux edition.

I thought they already did that with Ten?
I thought that was part of what killed the 80s rock
They killed it - and now they're fighting to get it back again.

Does anyone reaaally think that? About nirvana even? I thought that was just bullshit shitty writers spew to add a bit of romance to thier stories.

If it wasn't those bands MTV would have locked in on someone else and blah blah blah

And pearl jam doing 80s wouldnt matter if they did it well.

But, the earlier they release the tracklist the more time you'll have to hate the record just based on be song titles.

I don't feel like I'll be wasting my time hating it, though. I feel like I'm wasting my time hoping it's good. The sooner we can reject that notion, the better.

We all completely and totally believed it at the time. That's in part how grunge understood itself as a phenomena. The bands possibly didn't. But the fans and the 'movement' certainly did

By the way, is it just me or is the MYM leak we got kind of quiet? I feel like I'd be enjoying the MYM song on my MP3 player a lot more, if it was at the same volume level as everything else. As it is, it sounds tinny and insubstantial.

Mine is placed right between two PJ albums and they're both much louder. I keep wondering if I got a different MP3. In any case, hopefully the final version sounds better.

Mine sounds great. Nothing tinny about it. It's got a nice full sound. And it's plenty loud.

Any chance you could send me yours and I'll check whether mine is the same and I'm just talking bollocks?
