Pokemon
This was after my time. I thought it was past tense, but my 3rd grader and kindergartner got into it. I don't think they have any understanding of how to play, but they have their own method. Anyway, today my youngest came home sullen. He lost his favorite card. He didn't lose it. Someone stole it. I figured I'd be the hero and buy him the card on Amazon. It was called Mega Charizard EX. Wtf? Anyway, we searched together. $58! Holy shit, did he play for the goddam Yankees? Needless to say, he will have to live with the loss. Some of you, though, might be sitting on money with this stuff.

Re: Pokemon
Confronted the suspected thief (one of my older (9) son's friends) after school. Just asked if he'd seen anything because my son was really sad and can't find it anywhere. He pulled it out of his pocket and said, "I just found it on the playground." Well that was lucky

Re: Pokemon
What would you have done if it had turned out that the card was lost in a match, fair and square?

Nothing. My kids don't know how to play anymore than I do. If he was playing a game with agreed upon rules and lost, then it's tough shit. Being burgled is different.washing machine wrote:What would you have done if it had turned out that the card was lost in a match, fair and square?

Yeah, that's pretty shitty. I'm glad it turned out okay, but really, shame on that thief.

Nah, he's 9. That a gentle reminder of how his actions hurt someone else is all it took for him to turn his back on his brief life of crime speaks to his character more than the theft. He's a good kid.washing machine wrote:Yeah, that's pretty shitty. I'm glad it turned out okay, but really, shame on that thief.
But seriously, how many of you are sitting on hundreds of dollars in Pokemon cards?

the ones that are worth anything are few and far between if not mint. most cards only sell in complete sets these days anywaydaft twat wrote:Nah, he's 9. I see. My kids' cards are not mint. I would love to be able to find a stack of the "powerful" cards in played with condition so they're cheap. My kids have binders, but they carry their favorites in pockets with worms and bugs and slingshots.Mecca wrote:the ones that are worth anything are few and far between if not mint. most cards only sell in complete sets these days anywaydaft twat wrote:Nah, he's 9. Re: Pokemon
I definitely still have a holographic Charizard from the first set stashed away somewhere.
