Totally agree. The nu metal tournament has been the most enjoyable of any of these we've ever done by a long shot (well done LV) and I'm sure the variety of songs/artists has contributed to that.Kevin Davis wrote:I think the nu-metal tournament has been fun because it's dominated by a lot of singles that many people had a general awareness of. The single artist tournaments require a knowledge of deep cuts, etc. that even with the included videos gets hard to keep up with. I'd enjoy some of the suggestions made so far but I think the Britpop or pop-punk tournaments might be more fun just for the sake of participation.

I was thinking pop-punk / ska-punk / emo. Starting with the 94 punk explosion (Offspring, Green Day, Rancid), going through the mid-late-90s ska-punk boom (Less than Jake, Save Ferris) and ending in 2005 with the first wave of "emo" pop-punk (My Chemical Romance, Brand New, Fall Out Boy). It'll be terrible!

As long as it has some Saves the Day and The Get Up Kids, I'm on board.theplatypus wrote:I was thinking pop-punk / ska-punk / emo. I don't know any of their songs. Which would qualify? They need to be somewhat notable

Love Tom Waits but a Tom Waits tournament sounds a bit boring right nowstip wrote:was someone going to actually run one of these when LV is done or should I prep Tom Waits?

I have no idea what was actually popular in the emo/pop punk genre of the early aughts. But me and my friends were all over these two bands.

Just Google “most popular songs by [band]”. Hugely helpful in the Nu tournament.
