You cray cray, Eve 6 is totes pop punk.Kevin Davis wrote:Eve 6 doesn't seem pop-punky at all to me. "Inside Out" is just a run-of-the-mill late '90's alt-rock song, like "Closing Time" or "Flagpole Sitta."

I should clarify that I only know "Inside Out" and "Here's to the Night," and neither of those sound very punky to me, but this certainly isn't my genre of expertise.

I just realized that 1994 - 2005 is the same timeframe used for the Nu Metal tournament. What a time for music!

A few more songs by the genre's heavy-hitters that should be included:
"Minority" by Green Day. A pretty big hit, and most canned punk-by-numbers lyrics ever, save for Sum 41's "Fat Lip."
"Gone Away" by the Offspring. In my experience this was the biggest hit from "Ixnay on the Hombre."

I trust history will come to identify this period of musical schizophrenia and indecision as the "pre-Kanye scramble."LoathedVermin72 wrote:I just realized that 1994 - 2005 is the same timeframe used for the Nu Metal tournament. What a time for music!

Superdrag - Sucked Out
I'd probably pick this one to win it
Or is it just considered a one hit wonder?

That one Distillers song yes. As far as NOFX, maybe just "Leave it Alone"? They're not really up to the level of popularity I am generally considering for this thingLoathedVermin72 wrote:Refused are not pop punk, wtf Jammer
What about Rancid, NOFX, and The Distillers?

I don’t really think Eve 6 is pop punk either.
I guess I’ll nominate Unwritten Law - Save Me for being extremely terrible.

I saw Unwritten Law perform on at a taping of the Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn back in the early ‘00s. They had one song I remember thinking wasn’t horrible.Jammer XCI wrote:I don’t really think Eve 6 is pop punk either.

As for Eve 6, the general vibe of this band is totally pop punk to me.

Re: Suggest songs for the pop-punk tournament
I also appreciate that you want to keep it to relatively well known songs in the US. Just wanted to throw those out there for anyone who may want to give them a listen.

Re: Suggest songs for the pop-punk tournament
I'm abstaining from this tournament except to offer this gem from the "original 64" era of my adolescent CD collection which includes this compilation and every other CD that would fit into my very first 64 sleeve CD booklet. Every song on here should qualify. Please and thank you.
