He did a lot of good in that time, too. And there was tremendous hope for him until he went Sith. He was Anakin right until that moment, when he knelt and his eyes changed color and he was fully corrupted, fully given in to the Dark Side. At that moment, Anakin was killed, destroyed by Darth Vader.

They chose the best option AND they told us beforehand. This is great news.
Hopefully JJ continues this abandonment of his mystery box and let’s us in on the process.

Unless he’s keeping Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor in the mystery box.
That would be fine.
Keep Christensen the fuck away. It was beyond stupid to replace the force ghost with him in the first place.
I don't think he was a bad actor, intrinsically. I mean those movies ruined Samuel L Jackson and Natalie Portman.

I've said multiple times before, I'd love an Anakin Force Ghost in IX. The story I tell in my head is that Luke can't get through to Kylo and in the third act, as a last ditch effort to save him, Luke brings Anakin to Kylo. And Anakin tries to reason with him by telling the whole story, about all the mistakes he made, about the redemption. I'd love to see Haden as Anakin try to pull Kylo to the light. :heartbeat:

Yep. I am all about this.
It does raise the obvious question why hasn’t Anakin gotten involved with him before all this started to happen. But I don’t care. I wanna see anakin.

Yeah, but that can be explained in a line or two.

I think JJ toyed with the idea of Vader appearing to Kylo before TFA.

He did indeed. There’s art of Anakin as an evil spirit in the TFA art book

Speaking of. I never caught this. This is awesome. Really short thread. Give it a read. MORE links to ROTJ I didn’t catch

it would be really cool to know if the Sith lord had force ghosts too. If Anakin appears to Kylo in Vader form or as him.

But he wouldn't appear to a Jedi and a sith, only one or the other. The force ghost of the same person isn't going to influence both sides of the force

I was thinking that maybe Luke sees the good...so he sees Anakin. And Kylo see only Vader when he is in the dark side.

That’s what they were going with and dropped it. The sith can’t appear as force ghost. To give yourself up to the force is selfless and being subject to the force. Both go totally against the sith constant need for control and domination. And they aren’t exactly selfless.

Well never see sith ghosts but the idea was played with. Some cool blue sky art concepts of it in both the art of books.

But the force ghost is essentially a living projection. So at that point it would either be on the side of the Jedi or the sith. It isn't a memory but more of a living entity, if that makes sense

The original ending of ROTJ had Yoda and Obi wan as force ghosts helping Luke battle both the emperor and Vader.

This is an idea you could see used In 9 amd a way to get Luke and Anakin and maybe even Obi wan onscreen helping Rey.

In a quiet moment that could work, but not in a battle or confrontation with Kylo. That would be so hokey.

Not if she’s facing him and the knights of ren on her own.
Perhaps Grant is one of Snokes species?
People theorised Snoke could be an emissary for a bigger bad to come.

Maybe it’s Him

So much fun speculating :)

Lotta people saying luke is gonna come back from the dead. But he can be equally as powerful and effective as a ghost. Like we saw with Yoda.
