Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

My Chemical Romance--Welcome to the Black Parade

I'd put Weezer Blue Album stuff in before Monkey Wrench. My Name is Jonas feels like the seminal pop punk tune.

I thought about "Black Parade", but it came out just after our cutoff.

I really don't want to include a bunch of Weezer because I don't think most of their stuff really fits, but maybe "My Name is Jonas" does.

No one has presented an argument why "Monkey Wrench" shouldn't be in it. It fits, so I'm including it.

Including Monkeywrench while excluding a bunch of popular Green Day songs seems dumb.

We have 12 Green Day songs. "Monkey Wrench" is a more popular pop-punk single than any of the Green Day singles we're excluding.

I wouldn't include much Weezer, but Jonas fits.

Monkey Wrench fits the sound but not the aesthetic. If it's in then I think we're taking a broad enough view of the genre that the catchiest songs from bands like Bad Religion, Bouncing Souls, Rancid, NOFX, Pennywise, etc. could all be there as well.

Edit: just looked back at the list and you do have stuff from half the bands I named. So go ahead with Monkey Wrench I guess.

I think monkey wrench and my name is Jonas don't resemble anything even close to pop punk

And I mean, we're using the term pretty broadly here. We're including "Stacey's Mom"!

I feel like we need more ska

We have two Bosstones songs already but what about also including Where'd You Go? It was in Clueless and got decent airplay at least here in Boston.

I'm not really good at knowing the relative popularity of these types of bands/songs, but MXPX is there already, so what about Teenage Politics or Punk Rock Show?

Bad Religion--21st Century Digital Boy
Bad Religion--Stranger than Fiction
Bad Religion--Punk Rock Song

I already suggested this and Jorge shot me down.

New Noise should be in over goddamn Monkey Wrench, at least New Noise is a punk song.

I also want to nominate that song “California” with the guy running on fire for the music video.

I will add "Beer"

Sorry Jammer, if you really think "New Noise" resembles "pop-punk" more than "Monkey Wrench" does, you really have no idea what you are talking about

I am also adding "She's Got the Look" by Guttermouth which is a terrible pop-punk song that was in a lot of movies and movie trailers in the early 2000s

Looking forward to you constantly reminding Jammer to vote for the songs, not the bands.

Is “Santeria” by Sublime here yet? It needs to be.

Based on this most recent string of posts, I guess I'm confused why Lump doesn't fit, but I really don't care all that much to need a reply.

My real reason for posting is to ask about The Killers, Hot Fuss was right at the edge of this tournaments timeline and seems to fit, but what do I know.
