I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I know it's different but nature docs can be pretty brutal. I remember seeing a pride of lions attack a young elephant that had became separated from it's herd. The elephant was about three years old so it wasn't a baby but not too big for the lions to take down either. And lions kill by strangulation, something that an animal with a trunk takes longer.
Another time I watched a show on wild dogs. At the end one dog got sick (rabies? distemper?) from a stray dog near a village and spread it to the pack. They last few minutes were clips as they all died.
Of course those scenes from Japan or the Faroe Island where people drive dolphins and porpoises into a shallow cove and then hack them up, turning the water red with blood.
