Listened to this again today: if any song ever called for less McCready, it’s this one.

I love Mccready on this. He’s got a “Can you hear me Knockin” vibe going.

Stone’s playing on Of the Girl reminds me of Cckmp by Steve Earle.

Top 3 Pearl Jam song.

I think I only heard this one live once or twice. Definitely to open JB2 in 2000 and I think it was in the pre-set at Mansfield 3 in 2003. Always loved this song. The exact right vibe for a Pearl Jam song.

One of my favorite Pearl Jam songs. It sounds like Stone was influenced by Nick Drake’s masterpiece Three Hours. I hope he was.

This song could go on forever. Great vibe, longing and lingering. The instrumental version on PJ20 is as great.

In fact, anyone knows of a three hours version of this ?

This is probably the most frequently played song I have never heard live. I had no money to see shows back in 2000/2003 so if it wasn't played at the local DC show, I missed it.

Sounds good on the vinyl with a good set of open back headphones. Great sense of space and a showcase of what they were shooting for with the Binaural recording approach. The lead sounds like it is coming from another room.

Maybe if you loop it right digitally, you can create a really long version.

One of the best-produced songs in their entire catalogue.

Love Mike's tone. Actually, everybody's tone on this is perfect.

First time I've ever said this. Of the Girl is better than Sleight of Hand.

Of the Girl is one of 4 acceptable openers for the 2 shows I'll be at in November.

agreed. i love both songs and have felt the same- that they are of the same type of cloth. nice to see someone else mention this.

i do not understand spenno's preference for 'less mccready' on this, however.
ah, copperplate, a font for the truly modern man.
