I kind of hope it doesn’t. They already have about a dozen songs they play at every show. That leaves about a dozen open slots. I’d hate to see it whittled down to 7 due to new shit.
Man when you put it that way... 12 slots. That’s it.

Well...how are the Cubs doing this year? Cause if they make the playoffs Eddie will not probably spend much time in the studio....

Sad but true....

I was thinking the other day that I still had not listened to the new song.

I'd maintain that situation, if I were you.

I really don't get why everyone doesn't *get* this. Why do you want a new album? So you have to sit through 4-6 shitty songs next concert?

I don't care about the concerts too much. I want new music. I've only ever seen PJ live 3 times.

Plenty of artists have gone through dry periods and follow it up with a solid second life. Dylan, Springsteen, Neil Young. I think given the current climate both politically (theme for inspiration) and the current music landscape there’s plenty they have the opportunity to explore. Whether they do that is a story to be told, but the ground is fertile for an excellent album from them.

Even at that, I still personally feel that although both Backspacer and Lightning Bolt are at the bottom of my rankings, they are no Lucky Town or Human Touch, or even Tunnel of Love.

The lead up to and release of a new album is by far the most fun to time to be a fan, even if you end up a little disappointed. But if you keep expectations in relative check and you end up getting 2-3 nice additions to the canon, then I'm 100% down with that.

The band are way too fat rich and happy to write political music, especially Eddie. That is most definitely not going to be the spark at this point regardless of how much they all surely hate the dotard in Chief.

I’m just happy they seem to be genuinely excited about what they have written so far for the new album.

Let see how much BOB butchers these songs in comparison to LB.

Have you not been following? They've essentially only really done Can't Deny Me, and have no plans to work on anything else anytime soon

It’s notable that these examples are all solo artists. It’s a lot tougher (maybe impossible) to find a band who’ve pulled the same trick, presumably for obvious, pragmatic reasons.

Boston? Listening to old American Top 40 on Iheartradio, and I think my guy Casey said “Amanda” was a return to the chart after 7 years.
