I'll have to fight to get it back again.

This is probably the fastest I've grown to hate a Pearl Jam-related meme.

Can't argue with that.

I'm doing great! I just hate the "sponge" joke already. But that is the nature of the internet: take something amusing and run it into the ground. This one just happened really fast.

It did, I'll give you that. And it's not even a real song yet.

I can't wait to quote all this when where's the sponge is the cool space rock vibe jam instrumental that we always wanted :)

I think people are open to that. I don't think anyone's furiously slated the title or anything, it's just fun to take the piss out of. Meaningless banter.

Even if Where's The Sponge? is real and is the single greatest song ever written in the history of music it won't change the fact that it's a silly (at best) title.

That's what we said about Lightning Bolt, which became less silly with some more context and several weeks of mindless speculation. Where's The Sponge could end up being hilarious and appropriate.

Lightning Bolt & Mind Your Manners were both "silly and terrible" name and they are attached to a couple of decent to good songs.

You're going there with LB, huh? Man, there's a lot riding on that studio version. The vocal needs clearing up, and I want to know whether I'm right about the Lightning Boowoekewelkewd chorus.

I don't think it's changing the world but the chorus isn't a deal breaker for me , there is some good "jam" time in a couple places, and after the first 30 seconds or so the vocals and lyrics are good. It's a solid 3 even from the live version for me.

LB really suffers from that start. The rest of that song was good.

I think mind your manners is a great title

It's a horrible non-intro, isn't it? Just 1,2,3,4 on the bass drum and Wishlist played over the top. That's one of the things which I hope the studio version really clarifies. There needs to be an arranged intro; if it just begins the same way as UK, it'll fall flat and sound like an obvious UK rewrite. I keep having this argument about what will really change in the studio, and here's a good example. When playing live, Matt quite often destroys the intros of songs by playing exactly what he's playing here: duh, duh, duh, duh, on the bass drum and that's pretty much it. Starts Corduroy in exactly the same way live. And some tinkling on that ride cymbal.

And now we're going to listen to "Where's the Sponge", from Pearl Jam's forthcoming album "Lightning Bolt"!
