The dude who produced/engineered Alabama Shakes last album. He was on the Celebration Rock pod recently and seemed cool. Blanking on his name. Shawn something? His albums all sound spectacular.

This is a good idea. A rock-based newcomer with fresh ears and no allegiance to anything PJ.

i'm in the camp of them going a no-name route. give someone a chance, give them a portfolio piece, help boost their career. work with a new producer in seattle; let Jeff find someone in montana. there are plenty of hungry, extremely talented producers out there that could do a magnificent job. everyone and their mother knows "what pearl jam should sound like", but let them put their own language and mustard onto the record. i guarantee the vast majority of the fan base won't know the difference. a pearl jam record for BOB, Jack White, Dangermouse, etc etc ... is just another notch in their belt, and hopefully another chance to have their knob schlobbed at the grammys. it's just another credit. they don't give a shit, they have several mortgages to pay and new italian leather jackets to buy. it's just validation for both them and the band. throw a bone to the guys down in the dirt, grinding away at making records bc they fucking love making records. because they want to be the next BOB or Jack White or Dangermouse.
