Between Blink, Boxcar Racer and Angels and Airwaves, Tom Delonge has 14 appearances in this tournament and is therefore its biggest star

I fucking wish I could say Tom was the worst singer in the whole tournament, but we’ve already had Good Charlotte and Simple Plan taking that title away from him.

I think Tom is a way worse singer than both of those guys

I don't care one lick about this tournament. However, I'm throwing a few cuts from it onto a bar playlist for pre-Astros game happy hour. "Chick Magnet" is a better song than I remember, and fun at a bar.

Sorry. That sounded rude and I didn't intend it as so. Just trying to preempt the dozens of PMs from RMers asking me "If you like 'chick magnet' so much why aren't you playing????"theplatypus wrote:Thanks for prefacing this by stating how little you care about my passion projectwashing machine wrote:I don't care one lick about this tournament. Here's the truth -- I care about the people participating and I'm impressed with the buzz you've generated as well as the streamlined tournament format that you have perfected.

"Time Bomb" in the tournament is pretty good too.

I just did a quick count and found that I genuinely enjoy 42 out of the 128 songs in the list, so about 33%.

Advancing:
Guttermouth- "She's Got the Look"
Green Day- "Basket Case"
Blink 182- "Dammit"
Angels and Airwaves- "The Adventure"
The All-American Rejects- "Swing, Swing"
Blink 182- "What's My Age Again"
Paramore- "That's What You Get"
Blink 182- "I Miss You"
Eliminated
Simple Plan- "Perfect"
Brand New- "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows"
The Offspring- "Why Don't You Get a Job"
AFI- "Girl's Not Grey"
Bowling for Soup- "1985"
Against Me!- "Thrash Unreal"
Cobra Starship- "Bring It! (Snakes on a Plane)"
Good Charlotte- "Hold On"
- All three Blink songs advance!
- Will Good Charlotte or Simple Plan ever win a matchup? Probably not!
- There may have been some second-account voting during the Angels and Airwaves vs. AFI match. Please don't do that. It is honestly not worth it. This is all completely meaningless.
New matches going up shortly

I thought that vote rigging was an RM tradition at this point, it happens in every tournament right when the rounds are about to end.
I wouldn’t waste a burner account on this crappy tournament, but it’s par for the course at this point.

Nu metal is way funnier therefore more enjoyable. So many of these songs are just obnoxious and exasperatingbada wrote:This shit has aged worse than even Nu Metal. Yikes.

i apparently know way more Nu Metal songs than I do pop punk. honestly, the only songs i've recognized so far are 2 blink-182 songs and the No Doubt song. i was just completely not on the pop punk radar whatsoever (thank god)

the post-2000 pop punk era was when i started diving really hard into electronic music, so i was just completely unaware of a lot of stuff for a while

I haven't heard a lot of these. I hate how rigidly uniform so much of it is.
I think at this point in time I was mostly interested in older music. I didn't know where to look for good, new music. It certainly wasn't to be found on MTV or radio.

yeah it's kinda amazing how a large majority of these songs sound like they could have come from the same bandBurtReynolds wrote:I haven't heard a lot of these. I hate how rigidly uniform so much of it is.
