No, they did that one in LA. I went to Look Who’s Talking Too.
Ah. They're never going to be anywhere near me so I don't pay attention to the location of the shows.

I just think it’s insane that a Jason Statham shark movie has outperformed a Star Wars movie. Again, Disney really fucked this all up.

Yeah, probably. They should have monitored Lord/Miller more closely so it didn't get to the point where the movie was 'done' before they had to redo it.

I do t think that made any difference. The marketing for this was almost non existent. They released it against three other of their own releases within a few weeks. They were always sending this one over the top and if it lived or died they knew what they were doing.
They made a small profit on this I’d say given they didn’t spend anything like the normal amount of money marketing.

They knew they needed a pallet cleanser after the last Jedi. It served that purpose for those that did see it.

So, you're saying that their goal all along was just to make a small profit? I don't believe that for one second. It's Disney

Why release it against four other big tent poles? And spend no money marketing it? And only 5 months after TLJ? Dipping their toes in to see how 2 movies a year would go. If there was a Fuck up it was not releasing at Christmas with a proper marketing drive. But they own the game now. They don’t fuck up.

They fucked up a lot with this one. They basically re shoot the whole movie and then didnt marketed. Of course they are the biggest corporation in the world so its ok for them, but boy they did everything wrong.

I think the lukewarm reaction the public had to TLJ played a role here as well.

All of the above.

TLJ lukewarm for some viewers.
Below average marketing
SW-burnout? (3 SW movies within 16 months)
Up against big comic book movies (Comic book movies are the big item the past decade)
below average SW movie

Also,

I didn't find this myself, but read about it from somewhere...

The Dart Maul hologram, the red of his face can be scene as well as the red lightsaber. Is this the first time a hologram has color other than the bluish tint they normally have?

Probably to make audiences know for sure they were seeing Darth Maul and a red lightsaber.

*shrug* I haven't talked to one person I know that has seen TLJ that has "loved" it. Most have been "meh" and a few were "like"
