I've never even heard of this movie.
It was a Cameron Crowe-produced spinoff of We Bought A Zoo; it was directed by McG. It was mostly about Matt Damon's character's wife.
I don't believe this for one second.
No for real. It was good

It would have been a believable gag if not for McG. That was a step too far.

I've seen 2001. There were some great scenes in it, but overall it's still wildly overrated.... I store it alongside Requiem for a Dream as something I have no desire to revisit

I’m with Him. I love all the space shots and some of the interior stuff.

The obvious not at all subtle messaging throughout the movie is nauseating.

Cine files did an amazing episode on 2001. They’re great at just making you enjoy their enjoyment of a film even if you have no interest in the film. they get so in depth and know their stuff. The 2001 episode is well worth looking up.

i dislike it even more now that i've slept on it. some great performances from the cast, and some really good framing of shots, but overall a disaster of a movie. Was it a drama? A comedy? A murder mystery? A morality tale? It veered into those lanes at times but never committed to one fully. And the dialogue was mostly the sort of salty, unrealistic monologues that people never deliver in real life.

McDormand and Rockwell both get As, and Woody gets a B (he could perform this role with his eyes closed). McDonough gets a big fat F.
Funny, I think the worst thing about the movie is the shot framing. Close behind would be editing and pacing. McDonough gets a lower grade as director but I love his writing, so he scores well there, for me.
