Re: I Want You to Want Me vs. Sweetness
Another piece of pop-punk trivia for you: "I Want You to Want Me" was recorded for the soundtrack to 10 Things I Hate About You. Letters to Cleo lead singer Kay Hanley also provided the singing voice for the original songs in the Josie and the Pussycats movie, so this is actually her second appearance in this tournament.

"I Want You to Want Me" is a good pop single and Letters to Cleo does an adequate job with it, but "Sweetness" wins out

Sweetness would be in consideration for my all-time favorite songs

The Letters to Cleo song is better than everything Bowling for Soup, Good Charlotte and Simple Plan have to offer. Unlucky to come up against he powerhouse that is 'Sweetness' in the opening round.

Sweetness is okay, but I don’t even like the original I Want You to Want Me.
Jimmy Eat World’s best stuff is on Clarity and Futures, Bleed American is a little too poppy overall for me.

Yeah, pretty much. But it's also a cover, and those haven't really fared well so farEllo Sailor wrote:The Letters to Cleo song is better than everything Bowling for Soup, Good Charlotte and Simple Plan have to offer. Unlucky to come up against he powerhouse that is 'Sweetness' in the opening round.

JEW, but why the hell is the Letters to Clio song a cover instead of Here and Now?

Too early (came out before our cutoff) and also kind of grungy. This is a straight-up pop punk song.

I obviously understand pop-punk about as much as I understand nu-metal. I think "Sweetness" sucks. Vote for Letters to Cleo.

Bleed American is an awesome album. One of the few bands of this type I listen to.

I thought the I Want You tu Want Me cover was great. I like Sweetness but Letters to Cleo gets an easy vote from me.

I kinda get why some people don't like emo... the whiny vocals aren't for everybody.

Re: I Want You to Want Me vs. Sweetness
I like a few JEW songs (as emo bands go, they're hardly the whiniest), but this one gets on my nerves. A little "whoa-oh-oh" goes a long way for me.

I got a copy of this from a small message board (smaller than this one even) back in the summer of 2001 and it was my favorite album that year. Just blew everything else away. Drove my wife crazy I played it so much. Plus I was stationed in Yuma, AZ so there was an extra bit of 'living' the album in a way.
