I wouldn't call CC or LIR desperately imaginative. They're good but they're typical PJ (in a good way).

I can see 3 reasons for the leak, 2 of which would be from any PJ source.

1. Lost Dogs II imminent release and wetting our appetites.
2. Riot Act or ST delux edition imminent. Unlikely for another 5-6 years at least I'd imagine.
3. It was not from a PJ source. This leak is a huge mistake and the band hate the thought of us having it. (Most likely scenario)

Somewhere in the discussion someone made a good point. These were both recorded in the first of two sessions, neither of them sound like they would fit on ST, so they probably were never on the tracklists. I'm sure there is at least one more complete song left. That is unless Gone was added without anything being dropped.

i doubt either were. They don't sound, at least this versions, finished enough to have been that close to making the album.

I don't expect them to. They're not going to get mastered, or even finally mixed, until the band knows they'll go on the album. In most cases it's a waste of time to finish tracks that won't be appearing. They'll record them all to a close enough quality and then decide which ones to master.

I think it's more toward the songwriting choices and some of the lyrics.
