Soundgarden - King Animal -

When a band is but a fraction of Pearl Jam, but they aren't zero Pearl Jam.

Halfway There is better than Worse Dreams.

I like the song, but that line does take me out of it.

It's a major part of my problem with the song; it's one of those lines that's so bad, it can't be ignored.

I'm horrible with lyrics I thought it was "like a dog".

Certainly sounds like dog, which only makes it only fractionally better than doll.

'Dog' would be pretty good.

The worst is that the song is called 'Worse Dreams' (which is bad enough already), but then we have 'in a bad dream', and then 'worse dreams are born'. We get it, the song's about dreaming!

I'm going to use dog whenever I listen to this. I don't like thinking of Chucky.

There's a really cool industrial feel to the music in Rowing, that's why I can normally listen to it even though I'm not a fan of the vocals. I can't even get past the first 5 seconds of Halfway There--the demo version would have worked well on his next solo album. I tend to agree that the lyrics on Worse Dreams are a bit of a turnoff (I thought it was "dog" too), but again the music saves this one especially around the bridge. Only my 2 cents.

Anyone get tickets for Cornell's solo tour this morning? Wonder if he'll be debuting anything from this "acoustic-driven" solo album he's been working on...

I'm with you on Rowing, very cool music & vibe to the song. But, the vocals are a bit annoying and it gets a little tiresome. Its too bad since I was really excited after hearing that snippet of music that was out there before this was released. The Rowing part of it sounded incredible.

Man, the 'Halfway There' demo was amazing. So dark and moody. It would've fitted fine on this album. I don't mind the one we got though, it's still a good song and to me, sounds like a light breather rather than a pointless intrusion. There's a lot of darkness on the album.

That demo was really good...Chris´s vocals were spot on. The song in the album doesnt belong there.

Its a bit of a misfit, and comes off more as a Chis solo song. But, I can understand why its there. Its a pretty dark album, they probably just wanted something there to break it up a little bit.

I expect to hear Rowing on Sons Of Anarchy this season during one of their mandatory music montages. Fits perfect.

Exactly, the trailer we got a few months before the release that had the (looped?) kind of eerie version of Rowing bumped my expectations through the roof--had a very classic SG vibe to it. Ultimately though as we found out the end result was disappointing. Not terrible by any means, just wasn't what I hoped for I guess.

Re demo version of Halfway There, I especially enjoy the first verse where Cornell shows a bit of the lower register vocal, which I feel he doesn't show off enough (it's fantastic), probably one of the reasons I enjoy Taree so much (particularly the verses).

Wait, what looped version of Rowing? I thought the trailer snippets were from ATDB and Black Saturday?
