I enjoy black IPAs as a style a lot but find it very difficult to find good examples, definitely not an easy one to brew balancing the hop-forward necessity with dark roast yet non-roasty and preferably debittered malts. Wookey Jack by Firestone Walker was the best example I have come across, though the rye inclusion really set it apart and kicked it up a notch personally; however it was retired a few years ago and I totally missed the semi-reincarnate Wookus from the limited Leo v Ursus series.

I usually don't like Oktoberfest beers, but I had a great dark Marzen last night.

Had a really nice crisp black currant aftertatse that wasn't super malty or sweet.

At my local brewery, HammerHeart. This is called Olaf the Stout. Imperial Russian Stout aged in Bourbon barrels. Absolutely delicious on cold Saturday night.
