I had never seen Coraline, liked it very much. It is legit kinda scary for a kids movie, I would have been terrified watching it as a child. Kubo and the Two Strings was a little like that as well.

I've been listening to his podcast lately and he's a meathead sure but he's not dumb. I kind of respect the fact that he got his college degree before getting rich and famous.tragabigzanda wrote:"play"run2death wrote:Baby Mama was fucking terrible, but I do like watching Dax Shepard play a dumb guy.
Shepard transferred to UCLA, where he graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Anthropology.
Yeah, it freaked my kid out at the time quite a bit.Orpheus wrote:I had never seen Coraline, liked it very much. It is legit kinda scary for a kids movie, I would have been terrified watching it as a child. Kubo and the Two Strings was a little like that as well.

ParaNorman for me. I really want them to do something that hits that Return to Oz/Labyrinth/Monster Squad/Something Wicked This Way Comes sweet spot for me but they just haven't quite gotten there yet.BurtReynolds wrote:Coraline is still my favorite Laika movie.

Before I wake
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3174376/
I really enjoyed this! Classic haunted child paranormal "scary" movie but with a bit of a different perspective. Felt this was more all about the child and his experiences, rather than the parents horror and discussions on their failing marriage.
This was about childhood trauma and the way kids process it and how it ultimately influences their behavior and interactions with the world around them.
In the end, giving children the permission and understanding and love that they required at the moment of trauma to ultimately heal.
Good movie.

Yeah, Before I Wake is good. Can’t go wrong with Mike Flanagan. Love that guy.
