Best show tournament?

Post by Hatfield »

What if we had a tournament for the best Pearl Jam show? Have we already done that and I missed it?

No fuckin' way. While I do really like Benaroya Hall, acoustic Pearl Jam is definitely not the best Pearl Jam.

This would probably be a mammoth undertaking but it would make sense to have a tournament to create a shortlist of the favoured shows of each tour first, before trying to determine an overall “best show”.

Yup we did it at least once before. Participants nominated shows. The obvious choices were included plus nominees from participants. Atlanta 94 won.

Also, it's not a mammoth undertaking since you can have a clean 32 or 64 team tourney. I'd run this one if you want.

I wondered if it should be a 1995-2018 tournament for that very reason.

Here's my idea - 32 of "classic" or great shows and 32 user nominated shows (since the list of "classics" will not completely satisfy anyone). Each user can nominate 1 or 2 shows. Round 1 will feature a classic vs a user-nominee. Standard tournament style.

It shall be called the Sponsored By No One Tournament.

There really isn't, but I don't want to have this argument again. Which one?
