How quickly do you get tired of a song?

Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

How quickly do you get tired of a song?

Post by BurtReynolds »

I find that this varies widely from person to person.

My brother can listen to one song on repeat seemingly forever. I'm not that bad, but I do find myself listening to the same thing over and over lately. Back in the day, I moved on to the next thing pretty quickly.

I don't think this happens to me

I definitely get this initial high from a song that eventually dies off until I forget about it, then I get that nostalgic high which is almost as good.

It varies. With pop songs I can hate or love them. But even the love can pass completely. Doesn’t even have to take that long.

With rock music / indie, my stamina is much larger. However, there’s no doubt that an album like Ten has lost some of its charm along the way.

Really?

Happens to me all the time.

I think I listened to You and I (the firs single from Honeyhoney's 3 album) when it dropped like 70 times in a row.

I do this any time a new PJ song drops, too. I listened to Can't Deny Me several dozens of times in a row.

I have listened to certain songs on a loop for several hours in the past. Demi Lovato’s “Cool for the Summer” and Sky Ferreira’s “Everything is Embarrassing” come to mind.

It depends on whether or not something in the song grabs me. If, say, it has a cool chord or progression that you don’t hear a million times in other songs and it hits me just right, I’ll never tire of it. And it will get multiple repeat listens.

The bridge in King of the World tears me up. It almost just puts me in a zen state and I can just float on top of the chords. I’ll never get tired of that.

Oh, and weirdly, an improv song Reggie Watts performed on Conan.

I never get tired of any Dan, really. Except the non-Fagen songs on CBAT.

I must have listened to Caspian's Hymn for the Greatest Generation like 40 times in a row when it was first released.
