Eddie adding the band members names to songs

Post by mikejasond »

I know Eddie loves adding lyrics to pander to the city ("IM GOING TO FENWAY!" in Lukin, "Made it up to Fenway" in GTF, etc, etc) or to make political statements ("Don't see DONALD TRUMP!!!! as half empty, see him as half full of shit") but what's with him just randomly adding the band members to things for no reason?

It's so annoying. Why does he do this? Listening to Release in 2014, and he said "Ohhhhh dear Matt" and that's like the final straw.

I notice over the years he does this a bunch for some reason. There's "Admire my friend Stoooone" in Do the Evolution its like...ok I get it, he's playing a simple four-note guitar riff so we have to bow down to him as a rock god....fine...whatever I guess.

But then....in Wishlist...."I wish I was as fortunate as fortunate as Mike McCready"

WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN!?

I hate it way more than I even hate him singing about pissing his corduroy pants during Do the Evolution

I don't know what you're talking about, and I don't care.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

In many performances he’ll sing “admire me, admire my home, admire my son, admire my friend stoooooone”

Or “I wish I was as fortunate as fortunate as mike mccready”

I always roll my eyes at those

Can somebody explain what the origins are of 'fortune as mike mccready' what does that mean? Does he wish he played guitar that well or something? I dont get why he sings that line. (To be fair the original line is pretty bad too but if you read it a certain way it could be deep)

McCready is a badass. And he came through a rough drug addiction. He's fortunate.

This is one of the least annoying things Eddie Vedder does. I swear, mikejasond really gets hung up on the stupidest stuff.

Forgetting lyrics is really the only thing that annoys me much. I guess the warble and extra syllables stuff.
