Controversial opinion alert! SOtN is a 7/10 or 8/10 for me.

why's that?

It's been awhile since I played it, but I find the gameplay clunky, especially the jumping. The randomness of the weapon drops can negate the level design. I need to replay it at some point.

I think "Metroidvania" games tend to frustrate a lot of people and that tends to make them kind of divisive.

They aren't really "hard," but they do kinda require dying a lot and even though SOTN is one of the easier in the series, I think it still frustrated people.
