Got about 4 hours in and wasn't feeling it. This was after ME2 had come out, which I had played the demo of. All I could think about was how much better ME2 looked and felt.

I really loved this game. Can't seem to get into newer games in the style though (I still haven't made it past the first 6 hours of Mass Effect).

Do you feel the same about other old technologies? Like the original television models? Cause it's basically the same concept.

Games are more than just tech. A more apt comparison would be to music or movies, in which case my answer would be yes. It’s art created under the technological constraints of its time.

Super Mario 64's worlds look empty and blocky now but they were a revelation at the time. Very few pieces of art gave me the same amount of joy as running around as Mario in a 3D plane for the first time.

I agree that AT THE TIME it was amazing. But it hasn't aged well. I'd play Mario Odyssey over Mario 64 every time. But I'd play Mario 3 over Mario Odyssey at least half the time.
