I'm not sure how her daughter's life is ruined. I mean ... all of our lives are ruined, but hers no worse than the rest of us.

I wonder how things would have been different if Renquist had passed away before she announced her retirement. Would she have stayed on the Court? Would she have waited until after the 2008 election to retire?

This sounds like a hypothetical alternate history for GH!
