Re: Vs: Official Album thread
This is cool. When Loder asks the band about what act they want to see live ed goes into a rambling stuff about the world. The look on Stone´s face...and even Jeff seems to be really tired of him.
Its such a wild contrast of the band in 1992 just a year before with Eddie being so happy and talkative.

Re: Vs: Official Album thread
Dave A was more than just the guy that played drums for them for X amount of time
he drummed the Ten tour and he's the drummer on Vs and Vitalogy
and he was very skilled
part of the reason Vs in particular sounds so good is bc of Dave's drumming
he was an integral part of that album and the ascent of this band
and when he left they were never the same
but 'it keeps coming up' because this band incessantly does retrospectives! and how do you do retrospectives and reissues and lost dogs and all this shit so continually focused on that era and then constantly gloss over this guy? well they do. but some of us who were big fans in that era and especially fans of Dave's drumming can't just look the other way
so when they want to do a kumbaya about Vs, and people who play drums and love Dave A hear them talking about Vs, and there is no interview with Dave A and barely an acknowledgement of how integral he was to that album - it rubs his fans the wrong way
and all the reasons that they cited for kicking him out have come full circle now as they rub shoulders with billionaire trump supporters (red sox guy) and buy a bunch of cars (Ed in PJ 20) and use ticketmaster for $180 tickets - and they still can't just swallow their pride and acknowledge that there was adolescent rage flying around at that time - but he was a great drummer for them and his contributions were massive and now we let bygones be bygones
but yes the 5 against 1 book is probably the difference
but so just fucking stop doing all these retrospectives and halls of fame and ignoring this guy's integral part and still leaning heavily on his era of songs (now almost exclusively, but playing them shittily) and then 96583UP won't keep bringing him 96583UP!

My son is 18 and has been discovering PJ in a pretty big way lately. I showed him that overhead clip of Dave A drumming on Porch and its literally become his favourite thing ever.
Dave A was enormous to PJ and I think its a terrible shame how they've chosen to treat him and to write his contribution off over the years.

Re: Vs: Official Album thread
Ed seems like an insufferable wanker during that period. I can't possibly know what it would be like to go through what he did but the 4 other guys in the band all seem to have been estranged from him in some way. I've said before that he was the meal ticket, that one in a generation singer that Stone or Jeff would suffer for and I still think that's the case. Mike and Dave or any other drummer would have been expendable compared to Ed and Stone. Jeff I'm not sure.
I'm also aware of the stories about Dave doing extensive fan meeting after shows. He genuinely seemed to be enjoying every minute of the fame that he was living. I can see how Ed would be rubbed the wrong way by such affable behaviour.
We've all argued this time and time again and we've all got our stance. I still hope that Stone and Dave will work on a project together one day.

Pj/Vs is a tender sensitise formative years thing and the dave /pj split is like a divorce and we haven’t the tools to grasp the reasons for it and how it impacts us so we carry it on into adulthood like a child of an ugly divorce who has never had it explained to him why it happened so we’ll be forever angry about it and how dare they move on and not want to talk about it. Wan wah poor me.
He’s a drummer. He or no drummer is so crucial that the band would collapse without him.
It’s 25 years ago. Move on. They have.
Well there’s another correlation that’ll keep me awake.
25 years later and people still complaining about dave a being fired
Am I gonna still be listening to manbabies complaining about the last Jedi in 25 years?

Re: Vs: Official Album thread
lol, is he really for sure ?Looking back at it, as I did for years, it had me miffed. Then one day I came across footage of the band Candlebox with the drummer Dave Krusen playing with them live and a theory formed in my head. All personality questions aside, what I witnessed was just another drummer. No spark. No fire. No rock or roll. That was what they (Pearl Jam) had wanted as their drummer? Then I looked at how, in comparison to his other work, Matt Cameron’s approach with regards to his drumming is very tame and lackluster when he is playing with PJ. It made me realize that perhaps they never intended to be a hard-driven, powerful rock band. I drove that band as a rock drummer drives a rock band. Like Matt Cameron drove Soundgarden.

Re: Vs: Official Album thread
Dave´s vision about the other drummers is funny. Krusen is a monster on Ten, Irons too and Matt´s drumming on Binaural is fucking heavy too.
I get what he says but he is just so sour about not being a part of the band is kinda funny.
