X-men : Movies (and all other Mutant related things)

Post by MadTIGERmaN »

an X-cellent place to get X-cited about all things X-men

Figure the movies will dominate the thread...
but with months to go before the next X-movie (Days of Futures Past) starts shooting, and even more till The Wolverine comes out... can pass the time talking about the old movies, the future movies, the cartoons, comics, video games...

so... how bout we start it off with whos everyones favorite Mutants?

Wolverine, Storm, and Magneto are easily my top 3

i like the powered down wolverine, not the one that could still fight and win when he was burned down to his skeleton and adamantium laced bones

My favorite team was the Outback X-Men in the late 80's.

Colossus, Dazzler, Havok, Longshot, Psylocke, Rogue, Storm, Wolverine

Perfect team.

I really really did not get into Dazzler or Longshot but the rest of that team was great... and dont forget Jubilee hanging around the complex lol... I liked her ALOT more in those comics, then the cartoon series from a few years later.

Psylocke, Beast, Nightcrawler and Shadowcat are probably in my next wave of fav mutants

I just watched the Astonishing X-men motion comics... Kitty and Colossus were awesome on that run (its the full Joss Whedon Astonishing X-men run)

Ha it's funny you mention Dazzler and Longshot. After I wrote that post I was thinking I wish I could have swapped those two out for Forge and Banshee.

I really like when Forge is just kinda, there when ya need him... His mutant power is cool, but at the same time? its a lil toooo over the top if thats even possible with Super Powers LOL... "hey heres some things, build us the weapon that will save us"

At least with say, Scarlett Witch, whos Hex power pretty much could save the day everytime... It backfires, and or she loses control of it.

I'm pretty boring/lame. Wolverine was always my favorite. Gambit was probably my #2. Like I said, boring.

But I've always been more drawn to the X-villains.

I hear that, I kinda hate saying my fav 3 are Wolverine, Storm, and Magneto... being 3 of the most popular? Its like saying your 3 fav Pearl Jam songs are Alive, Even Flow, and Black (or Jeremy) Ya wanna toss in some oddball Mutant like Cannonball, or Sunspot, or Magma... or even one of the better known but unpopular ones like Havok... But Ive ALWAYS loved those 3

the ironic thing, is it seems alot of people have soured on Wolverine in the last few years, so its no longer cool to like the canucklehead

I'm surprised I'm the first to say this: Gambit. Loved the powers, the agility, the attitude, the speech.

I traded for a bunch of X-Men comics that are due in shortly, looking forward to reading some larger chunks than I was ever able to before.

I could probably search but do you have a rough issue count (xxx-xxx) ? Feel free to tell me to fuck off, just cutting corners; plus you have time, I started rereading The Sandman and I'm hooked again.

Ive just gone the hard cover oversized route...

the X-men 1 - 1-31
the X-men 2 - 32-66 (67-93 were reprtints of the first 66 issues, after which it changes to)
Uncanny X-men 1 - 94-131 (They REALLY have to get Uncanny 2 and 3 out, one left off right in the middle of the Phoenix Saga, and with Days of Futures past at 140? and that being the movie thats out next year... would be wise to get Volume 2 out)

the next group are all cross over events, and contain other X-related books, but this is the Uncanny issues that are included, which is majority of the 200's

X-men Mutant Massacre - 210-213
X-men Fall of the Mutants - 220-227
X-men Xtinction Agenda 235-238, 270-272
X-men Inferno - 239-243
X-men Claremont 1 - 244-269
X-men Claremont 2 - 273-280
X-men Bishops Crossing - 281-293
X-men Xcutioners Song - 294-297
X-men Fatal Attraction - 298-305
X-men Age of Apocalypse - 320-321
X-men Operation Zero Tolerance - 346

The New X-men (Grant Morrisons full run)
Astonishing X-men (Joss Whedons full run, which is also fully available on motion comic)

and lastly, out soon

X-force Omnibus volume 1 (the original X-force team led by Cable)
