NYROCK:
What was it like having Eddie Vedder induct the band at the awards ceremony?
MARKY:
Eddie Vedder has nothing to do with punk rock and I feel it was more of a Johnny thing, since Johnny moved to Hollywood and he's always wanted to be Mr. Hollywood. They're a whole different breed out there. I think Joe Strummer or Johnny Rotten would have been cooler to induct us, not somebody that is into grunge.
NYROCK:
He looked pretty silly in that Mohawk too....
MARKY:
It was like, let's be the punk for the day. Nice guy, but we were never into his music.

I found that Ramones quote. By Marky Ramone. Not as damming as I thought, still pretty funny...that fucking mohawk.

Complaining that your band's induction ceremony to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame wasn't punk enough is pretty punk.

It's pretty passive aggressive and makes me do a big facepalm. I mean, all this RIP Johnny Ramone stuff, Johnny Ramone was my best buddy etc. from Ed... how reciprocal was that?

The two take aways I would like everyone to have:
1. that mohawk was pretty fucking stupid
2. the ramones should be grateful anyone listened to their shitty ass music

Was the mohawk really done for that induction? I thought Ed did it in response to Bush's bombing in Afghanistan and planned attacks on Iraq.stip wrote:maybe the rest of the were jealous.

I think Ed was genuinely good friends with Johnny.

What's passive aggressive? Eds mohawk or marky ramone? This was after they opened for pj wasn't it?
The actual Mohawk wasn't as bad as the retarded ass explanation he gave for it, something about 9/11 and appearing like a dissenter I don't know. Should've just said I thought it might look cool.

How the hell can a Mohawk be passive aggressive? I mean whatever-he's-called-Ramone's comment.

It seems to me like Marky Ramone never has a kind word to say about anyone. His interviews always read like a cranky old man complaining about how no one understands his generation.harmless wrote:It's pretty passive aggressive and makes me do a big facepalm. Stone finally snapped and said "we're not a fucking punk band" so ed shaved is head and ran around yelling "how'd you like me now motherfucker"
Then ed realised he looked stupid and stone had the last laugh.

That's...worse than the original reason for the mohawk. Was the mohawk really done for that induction? I thought Ed did it in response to Bush's bombing in Afghanistan and planned attacks on Iraq.

I sometimes wonder how much of my life I could've controlled and exercised agency over, had I ever got a mohawk.

Y'know, looking at some Binaural videos, Eddie Vedder had a damn good head of hair in that period. Then he shaved it off for Riot Act and it's been weird ever since. There's nothing worse than a guy with a receeding hairline and long hair.
