Thankfully it seems like developers have wised up to this on modern consoles and it's not something you see very often. Or when you do, the person you are escorting isn't a useless bullet magnet with suicidal AI.tragabigzanda wrote:Yes, these blow.Ello Sailor wrote:escort missions.

You really don't see these anymore. But yeah, they suck when you do.mf wrote:Thankfully it seems like developers have wised up to this on modern consoles and it's not something you see very often. I hate that I feel stuck between consoles. It’s to the point where I don’t want to play anything. I’m not upgrading to a PS4 Pro because I know the next gen is on the horizon, but I don’t want to play new games on my standard PS4 (or Xbox One S) because I just get hung up on knowing I’m not getting the full 4K HDR experience I would if I upgraded.

I don't think we are getting new consoles until Holiday 2020 at the earliest. Cyberpunk 2077 is confirmed to be a PS4/Xbox One game and is still a year or two away.LoathedVermin72 wrote:I hate that I feel stuck between consoles. Yeah, 2020 is on the horizon in my book. Not shelling out for a new console that will only be relevant for two years max.Monkey_Driven wrote:I don't think we are getting new consoles until Holiday 2020 at the earliest. It's not like the first year of a new console is stocked with must-play games. I would look into trading in one of your consoles for the upgrade. I was able to upgrade my PS4 for the Pro for $130 via Craigslist and an Amazon sale. It's possible.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Yeah, 2020 is on the horizon in my book. I don't understand why Steam is STILL so damn buggy and unstable.
No other program (Mac or Windows) crashes as much as fucking Steam.

I don't think Steam has ever crashed on me, in 15 odd years. Are you on Mac? Then that's your bad. I nominate AutoCAD for most crashes.

Re: The Irrational Hatred Thread - Video Game Edition
back before the internet and cheat books you were really left to your own devices and it would take forever to figure something out (a hidden key, a pattern for the incoming horde, etc)
on my nintendo i got pissed playing rush 'n attack and other games
i figured out if i hooked my vcr into the mix i could tape my games then go back and review and formulate a better plan
i dont know if that was pure genius or purely being pathetic
probably a little of column a and b

I really hate this in mobile games. At least real games give you some sort of tutorial but mobile ones are just GO! and that's it. Also applies to apps in general because it's just completely left to the user to make it work.Monkey_Driven wrote:Loot boxes

The other day I started going through MK8 on the WiiU to get three stars on all the races. I usually can't because I'm the only one who likes racing, the other two bozos here like to battle. Anyway, I knocked out 50cc and started on 100cc. The very first race I was hit by a blue shell and two red shells right at the finish line and finished fourth. That's not fun!run2death wrote:Yeah, this could be annoying on MK, but it also kept the game fun.mf wrote:-rubber banding in racing games (i'm looking at YOU mario kart!)

Re: The Irrational Hatred Thread - Video Game Edition
lol, I did that too. I was watching one video when my dad came in from work and asked me what the hell I was doing. I was very serious about it and said basically what you said. I didn't see his response because I was looking at the TV but I can imagine.Peeps wrote:back before the internet and cheat books you were really left to your own devices and it would take forever to figure something out (a hidden key, a pattern for the incoming horde, etc)

it did, with rush 'n attack i was able to time the waves of soldiers coming in from the right so i knew when to jumpSimple Torture wrote:Did this actually work?Peeps wrote: i figured out if i hooked my vcr into the mix i could tape my games then go back and review and formulate a better plan
i used it for the sega genesis xmen game where you fought mojo. i always got stumped in the one part where the simulation ended and i wasnt sure what to do. then i got pissed and hit the reset button and that is exactly what you were supposed to do. what sane normal kid would hit reset 3/4 of the way through a game it took an hour or so to get to? the kind of kid that would hook a vcr up to his tv to tape his games that is who

The worst is when you get 1st in 3 of the races in a cup and then the 4th race you just have no shot. It is clear the computer isn't going to give it to you no matter how well you are racing.bune wrote: The other day I started going through MK8 on the WiiU to get three stars on all the races. basically when you are trapped by mojo prof x tells you to reset the computer so you look all around the room for a computer to reset. in reality you have to hit the reset button on your console
fucking genius if not equally frustrating
