Watched the first episode of Hap & Leonard. I had read that particular book earlier this Spring so I was familiar with the story. Turns out that maybe I shouldn't have read the book - or maybe watched the show? - because it was both too slow and too fast Just went ZOOM past some stuff and I was wondering if they were doing the Dresden Files thing of one show = one book but suddenly it slows down to where I thought it's going to take forever at this rate. And they introduced a character that was very much changed from the book. But maybe it's because it's a show and they can't just introduce a character mid stream like a book can.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

holy shit WM this show is awful. I will now forever doubt your tastes in stuff.
I think it’s a pretty spot-on caricature of NPR culture. Not surprised you don’t enjoy it.

I think it's a pretty spot-on vehicle for mindless, ham-boney performances, shitty dialogue, and ridiculous exposition delivered by talented people who are wasting their time with this dreck. Very surprised you do enjoy it.
Sometimes tv watching is just tv watching. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
