A friend of mine posted on Facebook about how he voted but “wasn’t happy about it” because he didn’t like any of choices, and found the constant vote-shaming by people he knows annoying. Unsurprisingly, he got a torrent of hate, mostly from women he’s friends with, talking about how even his annoyance with the process is “privileged” because he’s a straight white cis man.

What drives me insane about this is I feel like you’d have to be a raging narcissist who is utterly incapable of seeing past your own identity issues if you don’t think straight white cis men are going to be harmed by politicians, particularly in terms of economic and environmental policies. What a horrendous misreading of the problem.
