CNN called it. CNN is also showing lots of outstanding votes on blue, high-population centers on Texas.

It’s illogically discouraging to lose so many “probably not but maybe”s.
i think people had hoped that americans might turn out in droves like never before

to challenge an overtly incompetent, racist, and sexist POTUS the likes of which has not been seen before

but they were wrong

well more than half of americans are still f*ck my ass with a sharpened pool cue stupid

This is surprising to me, but welcomed. :heartbeat:
Sure, I’ve been posting about his lack of any real shot in this state, and you know I’m not fan of what the Kavanaugh spectacle did for the the United States of America, but I was never planning on supporting Lyin’ Ted.

Surprised you’re surprised.

Yeah, that's true. That being said, it's always been odd to me when people say that Texas is a deep and unchangeable red. Beto's losing by two points. If Texas joins other reliably blue states in the next presidential election or two that pretty easily negates any red wall in the Midwest.

This may have happened (I'd be very surprised if the higher turnout this time around was not due to Dems or Dem-leaning independents who normally sit out midterms coming out in droves). It's just the structural advantages our elections afford rural (and increasingly Republican) areas are becoming harder for turnout to overcome. That is a very, very bad thing in the long run for the country in general, but it doesn't necessarily mean low turnout on the Dem side.

District 7 Congressional race in Houston is one to watch. Former HW Bush seat years ago. Hasn’t turned blue in God knows how long, but Lizzie Fetcher might do it.

Republican or Democrat should not matter when the POTUS is this blatantly incompetent

there are still a million people+ per state that have not acknowledged the obvious fraud and blatantly destructive nature of GOP policies toward the non ultra-wealthy

my pity party marches on
