I think he's a little harsh in his criticism but the ST is missing something (even the SW Story movies as well)

It's hard to explain: the SW world in the OT feels like the inhabitants take the world seriously, even with the dollops of humor, so you take it seriously as well. LIke it's an actual universe

the PT feels like they take it too seriously, with sticks up their butt, and so much world building it overwhelms the audience with quantity over quality

the ST (and SW story movies); feel like pastiches of the OT, and I don't think the in-universe characters take their own universe seriously, so we as an audience can't take it seriously. And with 40 years worth of EU, non-EU, legacy, canon, not-canon, they put so much referencing and relationships (not necessarily the dating/married kind) that it is a different kind of quantity over quality that the PT faced.

The Hot Fuzz star came to an epiphany about how he felt now about Lucas and his worldwide hit: "I must admit, watching the last Star Wars film [The Last Jedi], the overriding feeling I got when I came out was, 'I miss George Lucas.'

Pegg, who has come to regret his very vocal Jar Jar hate, has been cast in a plethora of films by JJ Abrams (the aforementioned Mission Impossible, Star Trek and Star Wars) and we wonder how the director would react to his friend's closing comment on George Lucas' absence from the sequel trilogy:

"I do feel like his voice is missing from the current ones."

George Lucas' imagination died around 1985 though.

The clone wars is outstanding and he wrote and produced and paid for the entire thing himself.

eh, maybe. As I've gotten older I become more selective on what I think is good and bad. I don't think the ST (so far) is bad; I think it's mostly mediocre and will be forgettable in a few years.

at some point the discussion is stupid. For many reasons. But i think its fair to just admit as adults you aren't as easily impressionable as you were as a child. You're always going to compare it to the OT and that feeling you had as a child and growing up with it. Im not taking away your judgement about the ST but i think its fair to be honest about a few things including this. There is a chance you might think the OT isn't all that wonderful if you first watched it as an adult as well.
