I believe in you!
Also, that's a pretty big race by ultra standards. Probably end up with 400 to 500 entrants on race day.
I need ~11 miles this weekend to hit 1,500. Should end up with around 1600 for the year.
R2D, thinking about following a Hanson's plan for my spring marathon. Thoughts? Debating between that and the Pfitz 18/55 plan. Leaning toward Hanson's because 10+ mile mid-week runs are almost impossible for me.
A Hanson plan make sense for you. You have enough mileage that I wouldn't be super worried about the shorter long runs.
Speed work and marathon pace runs are really the most important runs in marathon training.
I would probably suggest that you make sure to throw in some tempo into in the middle or end of those long runs. You wanna make sure to have some pep in those legs at the end.
I personally would really like to see you pay for a Daniel's VDOT plan at the Run Smart Project.
A BQ may be a stretch goal for you on this one, but you should be around 3:15 with some solid training.
Specificity to you (with VDOT) and a granular approach that trains all the important systems with multiple effort/training levels and specific build, quality, injury prevention and final/tune-up phases.
It's a dialed-in measurement/physiology based approach with really specific runs.
There's no doubt, it's a pain in the ass.
I've never actually done one of his plans, mainly because I was in ultras for years.
