The worst part about RVM live for me is that Ed hasn't sang the correct 1st chorus for about 18 years. He sings the second chorus twice and it bugs the crap out of me!
That, and the fact that for years now Ed starts singing a line of the song but moves away from the mic to focus on his guitar playing so we just get loads of half-lines.
I don't mind the jam, but the rest of the song is an outright mess these days. Studio version for the victory.

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
I recall when they started playing the reworked In My Tree back in 2003, there were one or two folks on here who thought that Eddie was omitting the "Sky I Scrape" line because the band didn't want to acknowledge this website due to trading of bootleg DVDs and whatnot
I kid you not.
I love the first chorus to RVM so it makes me sad when he doesn't sing it ever.

Why would you not mind the jam if the rest of the song was a complete mess? The rest of the song is... the song. If they fuck that up, the deal's off.

I'm talking about live. I adore the studio version of the song. When they play it live these days, I enjoy the musical interlude but the rest of it is performed in a mediocre way. Ed's guitar is too messily played, he never commits to singing the vocals clearly and properly and it just comes off as messy to me.harmless wrote:Why would you not mind the jam if the rest of the song was a complete mess? I hope that when it hits, this thread is merged with a new one, rather than getting rid of it.

There shouldn't be a new thread at all, far as I'm concerned. This is the goddamn!

I know you're taking about live. I just don't get how the jam could be your favourite part of the song.BootsToAsses wrote:I'm talking about live. I adore the studio version of the song. The jam would be awesome if it happened maybe 1 out of every 5 performances .
