Show me local bands that you love
Wanna hear stuff from your neck of the woods that may not be that well-known

Re: Show me local bands that you love
Here are four things I've been digging lately (3 very recent, 1 not so much)
Maria Pien usually makes more delicate, conventionally "pretty" folk music, but she went to some darker, more interesting places with this EP. It incorporates elements of math rock and Slint-like weirdness. Really love the video, too.
This is a band of three Argentines and two Americans. They make cool, dream-poppy stuff, kind of like a cross between Cocteau Twins, Beach House, and In Rainbows-era Radiohead, but punkier.
A super-talented string quartet made this unique, experimental that goes from fairly straightforward pop tunes to pretty out-there stuff.
This is from a few years back but I saw this band last night and I've been digging them. Post-punk with shoegazy elements and a very good ear for melody

PHX has this industrial/performance art thing going on right now led by Lana Del Rabies. Her first real album Shadow World is getting a lot of buzz.
Not really my thing, but I've heard the live shows are pretty great.

The band is Peach Pit. My son says they're really nice guys as well.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

The only semi-local bands from the greater South Carolina area that aren't country, cover, or jam-cover band is Carpool Party and Toro y Moi

I guess Moon Ruin is only half local. But the main dude is from Peoria. And they're playing there right this second. Kevin Davis, if you get down to the Broken Tree ASAP you can still catch them.

Re: Show me local bands that you love
I checked out their Bandcamp page. I recognize Jared, I feel like I've seen him playing around town over the years. Doesn't do much for me, just feels really similar to a lot of other stuff that scratches that same itch, but I appreciate that it is well-made.guestT wrote:I guess Moon Ruin is only half local.
