I'm not sure what you were expecting. This is the definitive game in the series.
I'm not sure either. Like I said, I've never owned or played much any of these games before. It just feels kinda shallow/bland.
That might be the first time I've ever heard the series described as shallow or bland.
I guess I just don't enjoy fighting games. I find them boring. I need more to do.

Where's the motivation? Why are we fighting and what happens when the match is over... Another match? Shallow

What's the point of a Rocket League match? Game of Madden? What happens when it is over?

football is very complex... Rocket league is cheaper for a reason.. I love rocket league. It seems like smash Bros should cost 20 dollars... Especially considering rdr2 is 60

Your logic baffles me. Smash has 70+ characters that are all completely unique in how they handle and play (other than the shadow fighters). Sure, the basic gameplay is simple, but so is Madden. Both are easy to pick up and play but very difficult to master.

I was pretty darn toontin meticulous about watching and reading reviews and I figured Nintendo prolly did this right but I think it just comes down to my not being able to enjoy this kind of game anymore... I'm hoping my nephew likes it.

I guess it comes down to preference. ... I love football... I'm not even sure what smb is .. the characters don't interest me... I'm disappointed I don't like it... I wanted to love it

That's fair. But it doesn't make the gameplay or game shallow.

I don't typically like fighting games either, but this series is like a love letter to video games. It's worth it just to see the amount of love and detail put into each character/stage/etc.

Just saying it feels shallow to me... Nothing hooks me... Level design is neat but that's not enough.
