I’m pretty sure Rainier Fog is the only full album released this year that I purchased this year.

Well I just heard that Parquet Courts album for the first time on a drunken walk with the dog last night. It is now a contender for the top five. In a way, it's more Talking Heads than the David Byrne album that came out this year. Which is as it should be. Byrne continues to live in the present while some talented young bands continue to pick up the new wave/post-punk torch and run with it. "Mardi Gras Beads" and "Almost Had to Start a Fight" are two songs that really fuck.
