yeah, im not sure about 50 books but i think i only finished two this year, It and Im Thinking Of Ending Things. It took me a full year to finish. Its so small compared with what i used to read.

Hopefully ill finish the Pizzolatto book soon and start another one.

To be fair, most of us are counting only movies that we watched for the first time this year. Older movies, even if we watched them, wouldn't be on the list b/c of repeat viewing.
I’m aware. That doesn’t make it better.
 How many movies are 30-40 year old adults supposed to have sitting around on their bucket list?
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

There are thousands and thousands and thousands of movies out there, B. This is a ridiculous argument. I get that other people don’t care nearly as much as I do, and that is what it is. But don’t pretend you’ve seen everything just because you’re middle-aged.

But hundreds that actually appeal to the average individual. I mean, you're "thousands" includes Gigli.

I'm not saying there aren't old movies to see. But the balance is going to be on new movies.

This is still a ridiculous argument. It’s fine - sad, but fine - if you’re not interested in watching old movies. But you’re making silly justifications.

There are far more old movies you haven’t seen than new movies you haven’t seen. The “balance” is just you and your preferences.

I only read 12 books this year, but 9 were read in October or later, so that feels pretty good as a punctuation mark. No idea how many moves I've watched. Will be keeping better track of both starting tomorrow.

Much like dct I only marked new viewings, and on top of that I also listed movies that I haven't seen in over a decade. If I listed every movie it'd be about 2x as big.

That doesn't make any sense though. When I watch Chinatown, I'm not listing it because I've seen it recently and therefore not listable.

At this point I feel like we're arguing about fundamentally different things.

If I'm not done with something by midnight tonight, but I'm less than 50% through it, count it for 2019? And I expect this thread to be up by 12:01AM tonight, btw.

Uh oh, hold on--re-reads don't count? I usually alternate between a book I've read before and a new book, so in theory I'd have to read 100 books. Yikes.
