I assume that, if that doesn’t work, the line will be “Democrats want to drag this stupid fight out until it completely destroys America, but we will take the high road for the sake of the great American worker and sign the budget bill.”

It’s been two years. Regardless of your political stripes, you should be aware at this point that for Trump there is no high road. Only winning and losing.

I am also positive that if Trump tries to use a state of emergency to use military funding for a border wall after not being successful in advocating for it in the legislature that the executive branch will be sued by congress and it will go before the Supreme Court very quickly.

And they'll "find out whether or not the Kavanaugh fight was worth it."

My honest thoughts: It sucks and is not helpful.

My flippant response: It’s just locker room talk.

A bunch of airport workers at Nashville have stopped going to work since they're not getting paid.

Security screeners are burning up sick leave all over the place, calling in rather than working without pay. That and the e-verify immigration status check powering down are a big part of what I was thinking of above.

Do government employees have to go to work in a shut down? When they’re not being paid?

Fuck that.

Never let me see the French get called surrender monkeys on here ever again.
Least they have some balls and protest.

Heard that on mueller she wrote the other day and I can’t believe it.

You won’t get paid for your government shutting down. But Congress will. Most everything in D.C. will.

Just go home. They’re not paying you they won’t pay you back for time worked during shutdown. Just go home.

Did you see the story about how the shutdown means that a raise for people in the White House will go through? All while Trump stopped a general raise for gov't workers?

Sure did. They each get at least a $10K bump.

I don’t actually think the White House cares if it wins such a fight, only that it was seen taking up the attempt. It allows them to say “hey we’re fighting for you, trying to do exactly what we promised to do,” without all the hassle and consequence of building a wall.

I also don’t think that even they believe they’ll win a court battle over $5b in emergency wall funding
